How do I enable LockDown Browser for a quiz or exam in Canvas?

Answer

Use the LockDown Browser link in your Canvas course navigation. If you do not see LockDown Browser in your navigation, it will need to be enabled in the Settings menu on the Navigation tab.

  1. Make sure your quiz is deployed in you Canvas course
  2. Select "LockDown Browser" from the Course Navigation menu
  3. View the quiz list - quizzes show as either "Required" or "Not Required"
  4. Click "Settings" from the context menu next to your quiz title
  5. Select your designed option to require LockDown Browser
  6. Optional: Create an access code that students must enter before starting the quiz

Advanced Settings available:

  • Require LockDown Browser to view feedback and results
  • Lock students into browser until exam completion
  • Allow iPad use with LockDown Browser app
  • Allow access to specified web domains during the test
  • Enable Calculator or Print functions

When finished, click "Save and Close" to apply your settings.

Students will be prompted to use LockDown Browser when attempting the quiz.
